School Introduction
School for the Future - A school that paves the way to the future
Bukomero Skills Secondary School in Uganda aims to eliminate educational disparities and provide all young people with the opportunity to develop the "ability to learn" and "ability to live." This school is different from other secondary schools in that it places emphasis not on simply acquiring knowledge but on acquiring the skills and mindset to pave the way for the future.
Our project, "School for the Future," targets students aged 13 to 19, as well as young people up to age 20 who wish to resume their studies, and provides practical, future-oriented education in areas such as vocational training, agriculture, fish farming, IT, and entrepreneurship education.

mission
"Providing all young people with an education that gives them the strength to live and opens up the future"
The mission of Bukomero Skills Secondary School is to provide equal educational opportunities to young people living in rural areas of Uganda, and to nurture not just learning but also the ability to survive. We hope that children living in areas suffering from educational disparities will have the ability to dream and realize their dreams, just like children in urban areas.
To achieve this, we not only aim to improve academic ability, but also provide practical knowledge and skills in areas such as agriculture, fish farming, vocational training, IT, and entrepreneurial skills that are directly related to the future, helping young people build the future of their region with their own hands.
In addition, through our website and crowdfunding, we connect with supporters both in Japan and overseas, expanding the circle of educational support and spreading the potential of the region to the world. Based on our belief that education is not something that is given, but something that is "nurtured together," we will continue to walk alongside young people.
vision
"Education transcends all barriers and creates a future for the local community and the world."
Bukomero Skills Secondary School aims to create a society where local young people can dream through education and turn those dreams into reality through their own efforts.
We believe that in the future, students from Bukomero will become entrepreneurs, engineers and local leaders who will be in a position to solve social issues in Uganda, create jobs in the local community, and pass on hope to the next generation.
This school does not simply nurture "graduates," but "change-makers" who will support society in the future. Our vision is that education will change the lives of young people, who will then change their communities, and eventually lead the country and the world in a better direction, little by little.
Education is a bridge, not a wall. We will continue our activities, believing that this small challenge starting with Bukomero will eventually become a source of hope for many people.

Library
A Gift of Knowledge
At our school in Bukomero, Uganda, we have a small but hope filled library.
This library was made possible through the generous donation from Yanagawa City Library in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Among the many books they donated, the staff at Yanagawa City Library carefully selected Japanese picture books and cultural materials so that our children could experience Japanese culture and learn basic hiragana.
For many of the children, it is their very first time encountering picture books, science books, or storybooks. Through these books, they begin to discover a world beyond the village, expand their curiosity, and experience the joy of learning.
We believe that books open the door to a brighter future for these children.
We plan to continue expanding our collection little by little.
If you happen to have English books—such as picture books, children’s books, dictionaries, science books, or storybooks—we warmly welcome your donations. A donated book is more than just pages bound together. It becomes a seed of hope, a first step on a lifelong journey of learning for a child.
Your one book has the power to change a future.
Bringing the World Closer Through Internet Access
Thanks to the partnership with KyI Co., Ltd., our school is now preparing to install Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, a revolutionary step that will open up the world to our students.
With a projector and screen already in place, the only thing we need is a stable internet connection and then, our students will be able to explore the vast world of knowledge online, just like children in Japan or any other part of the world.
In today’s world, the internet is a bridge that connects us all. Once Starlink is installed, supporters like you will be able to see the daily lives of the children you’ve helped, in real time a powerful reminder that your kindness makes a direct impact.
Together with KyI, we will make this dream a reality not someday, but soon.

A New Initiative: Empowering Children to Shape Their Own Future
At our school, we have launched a new initiative to empower children to take charge of their own future by introducing a Japanese live-streaming app called "Cheer Support."
Through this app, students can live-stream their school events and daily activities, connecting in real-time with viewers in Japan. These viewers can show their encouragement and support by sending financial contributions through the platform.
In Uganda, unlike in Japan, children rarely have the opportunity to earn pocket money or buy school supplies on their own, as there are very few part-time job opportunities available especially for young people. Economic self-sufficiency remains a major challenge.
However, by using Cheer Support, children can build their own fan base and independently raise funds to purchase items like pocket money, stationery, or sportswear.
This is more than just streaming.
It is a valuable learning experience where children feel the joy of being supported and gain a real sense that their actions can shape their future.
Moving forward, we will continue to combine technology and education to support our students as they strive toward their dreams.
A "Point System" That Turns Actions Into Future Opportunities
We are working to introduce a new system that visibly rewards the efforts of children a "Point System" that recognizes and supports their positive actions.
In this system, children earn points by actively participating in classes, helping in their communities, joining cleaning activities, volunteering, and contributing positively to those around them.
Accumulated points, along with support received through the Cheer Support app, can be used to purchase school supplies, partially pay for school fees, or help cover medical expenses.
But this is not just a reward program.
The true goal is to help children find value in their own actions, and to foster a sense of independence, responsibility, and social contribution.
This system is being developed by KyI Co., Ltd., combining both technology and heart. We believe it will empower children in Uganda to live with hope and purpose.
A society where actions lead to opportunities — starting right here at Bukomero Skills Secondary School.
The future belongs to the children themselves.

Ties with Yanagawa High School
Connection with Yanagawa High School
Students from Yanagawa High School in Fukuoka Prefecture conducted a fundraising campaign for children in Uganda, and with their support, donated school supplies such as notebooks and pens. I would like to express my sincere respect for the high school students for taking the issue of children overseas as their own and taking action.
In the affected areas, each and every child who has received support is studying hard towards their dreams, with a notebook and pen in hand and warm feelings in mind. We will continue to provide careful, daily educational support so that they can turn their dreams into reality.
This kind of support is by no means something to be taken for granted. That is why we treasure each and every thought and want to transform it into a force for creating the future. The warm actions of the students of Yanagawa High School are certainly illuminating the hearts of children in faraway Uganda.
I sincerely hope that we can continue to build a relationship where we can learn from and support each other across borders.

International Exchange with Yanagawa High School
We at Bukomero Skills Secondary School would like to create further opportunities for learning and growth through international exchange with Yanagawa High School in Fukuoka Prefecture.
Yanagawa High School is a traditional school that places emphasis on international education, and is full of activities to foster English language education and a global mindset. In particular, the school is proactively working on education that connects students to the world, such as "international understanding education," "study abroad support programs," and "online classes using ICT."
In the future, we plan to carry out the following exchange activities:
Implementation of exchange program: Students can travel directly to other schools, experiencing each other's cultures and values and learning from each other.
Online Video Exchange
By utilizing tools such as Zoom, students can participate in classes, learn about different cultures, and hold discussions in real time, thereby enhancing their language skills and international understanding.Implementation of joint projects Students from both schools will work together on project-based learning to investigate and present on themes such as the environment, SDGs, and traditional culture.
Through this partnership with Yanagawa High School, we hope to build an environment where high school students from Japan and Uganda can inspire each other and develop the ability to turn their eyes to the world, learn and take action on their own.
